In 2014 two siblings, Arik and Naomi, decided that Northern Liberty needed a down-to-earth coffee shop. Their first concern was bringing excellent coffee to the area and are proud to be the first coffee shop in Philadelphia to serve Brandywine Coffee Roasters coffee, which has been custom roasted and blended to their specifications.

The name Mammoth Coffee came from a movie theater located across the street, which was open from 1909 to 1937. Mammoth Coffee occupies what was once the soda fountain section of the pharmacy, located next door.
